Successors of the Apostles

Makes you proud to be Catholic, doesn't it?
Here we see the three hand-in-episcopal-glove bishops from the West Country Catholic-Free Zone in England.
Left to right:
Crispian Hollis of Portsmouth,
Christopher 'I hate Pope Benedict' Budd of Plymouth
Declan Lang of Clifton.

Catechism question:
Q. Who made you, Declan?
A. Hollis made me.
Q. In whose image and likeness did Hollis make you?
A. Hollis made me in his own image and likeness.
Q. Why did Hollis make you?
A. Hollis made me to know him, love him and serve him in this world, and to be happy with him for ever in the next.

h/t to the Northern Cleric.

It ain't easy being a West Country Catholic, Father!

But don't all of us to some degree live in Pergamum?

True, Rita. And you certainly have my prayers.

classic...the beauty of it is we can all fill in our own favorite candidate for the 4th for a bridge game. I imagine and number of them can play "dummy" quite well.

They're a disgrace - why did our martyrs bother!!

And there I was thinking that Hollis changed his tune when he permitted the indult mass at Reading. I suppose a leopard never changes its spots eh?

Is this virus catching? If so, do you think I can innoculate myself against it by dressing as a Bishop next time I attend a conference about how to persuade the laity that all is well in our English Dioceses?

Vicious, unkind, uncharitable and unnecessary comments. Are we defined simply by the way we dress? Please God, no. Surely the Church is not that shallow?

Fr Justin said...

No, Anon, it really isn't about how they dress, there's a whole world more. The dress is simply the top surface As has been said in another context; it isn't about outward appearances; it's about ecclesiology.

Quote from Crispian Hollis (a friend of mine was there - aaaarggh!):
"When those who want to see the Old Mass return see this [dancing girls in what passes for a sanctuary, guitars and tambourines, fuzzy felt banners] they won't want the Old Mass"

Yeah. Right.
