Is it not better that she's a nominal catholic rather than some new age crazy or some californian buddhist ?
As for the Pulman stuff ? Banned my kids from having anything to do with it upon advice from the diocesan chancellor.
It's sad that she should conspire in such an anti-catholic travesty; but doesn't it give us more ammo to oppose...
Oh, you just wait until her next role. She has an affair with a 15 year old kid. I wonder how her Catholic upbringing comes into play here.
If there was a pan-Christian boycott of rubbish, like Pulman's books and films, and supposed Catholic 'stars' who go too far, then the pain in their pockets would cause them to look more carefully at what they do.
We have continual disagreements with my girls re Philip Pullman..my girls claim to see what he's up to..but me i keep throwing them in the bin! Nicole Kidaman...a tad mixed up hey?
The sooner Harry Potter magics up a large wet fish to slap around Pullman and his friends the better

Well I suggest you remove the picture from your site instead of exposing it as gratuitous titillation.
Why, what's wrong with a bit of gratuitous titillation? Especially as St Nicole herself is clearly heavily into the "theology of the body" (even if not quite as the late Pope envisaged it.)

The word 'magisterium' of course has many associations other than Catholic.
I agree with alphege & Fr., we need not censor such 'titilation' especially if offered to us on a plate. We need only concern ourselves with the touching and doing - and I don't think we are likely to get the opportunity to do that are we!
Northern Lights gets off to a good start with the Oxford setting but then goes off and becomes incomprehensible to the point that it does not add up in its own logical terms, which all good magic books must do.
I am surprised children can be bothered with it.
