Delicious irony…
Guess who's been appointed to be the new secretary of Ecclesia Dei? Mgr Marini, once secretary to Annibale Bugnini. He'll actually have to administer (without the opportunity to make any real decisions) the growth of the traditional Mass!
And who said Bavarians have no sense of humour?

You have got to be kidding !??
It's like sending Rudolph Hess to be Israel's representative at a palestinian peace conference!
Sure it's probably one of the most ironic penances a Pope has ever given; but seriously, anyone who was around Bugnini ? I won't enter the sin of detraction but we still really have no idea how far this poor departed , misguided archbishop's machinations transgressed the sanctity of the Papal office.
Nobody can now doubt His Holiness' courage.
Remember; he's only secretary, not the prefect (the guy in charge).
Mortification is very efficacious!
With God's good grace, it will work its power.
Ahem, it Msgr. MARIO Marini, undersecretary of the CDW, who has been appointed, not Msgr. PIERO Marini.
Ah, shame………
Still works as a good joke.
Ere les gif das vaithvul a litel shock, now zat zey are dronk on dis champayne, ah marini yah yah. Tee Hee
I thought he was sent the commission for eucharistic congresses??
you've all left me behind on this one!
I don't know whether you've already found out yourselves, but just in case:
Msgr. MARIO Marini, undersecretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, has been, in addition to this office, named joint secretary, together with the current secretary Msgr. Camille Perl, of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei.
Archbishop PIERO Marini, our favourite MC, continues in this office, but is, as mentioned by Matt, rumoured to (finally!) leave that office and assume the presidency of the Pontifical Commission for International Eucharistic Congresses before the solemnity of Christ the King (in the ordinary calendar, i.e. end of November).
