More new crimes

Last week, a German court sentenced a 55-year old Lutheran pastor to one year in jail for Volksverhetzung (incitement of the people) because he compared the killing of the unborn in contemporary Germany to the holocaust. Next week, the Council of Europe is going to vote on a resolution imposing Darwinism as Europe's official ideology. The European governments are asked to fight the expression of creationist opinions, such as young earth and intelligent design theories. According to the Council of Europe these theories are "undemocratic" and "a threat to human rights."

I am shocked. Really really shocked. The Pope is right. Europe is heading for oblivion. Also, given that the Theory of Evolution is just that, a theory, how on earth could it even be considered a suitable ideology underpinning this European Experiment. Prayers and letter writing is in order - me thinks.

We could really do with a referendum.
Thanks for posting this.

There is a difference between "Evolutionism" and "Darwininism". Darwininism is about eugenics, the dominance of the week by the strong; basically identified by all the evils of the half of the 20th century.
Did you mean that?

I was just quoting; I expect what the article means is Evolutionism.

By week is dominated by not having enough time in it.

The Pope never said Europe is headed for oblivion, and he never said Catholicism isn't compatible with the Theory of Evolution, which is a scientific "theory". That means all available evidence points that way. In scientific jargon, "theory" means accepted fact.
If anyone's going to use this as a call for freedom of speech, it'll help.
If anyone's going to use it as a call to challenge evolution ( Not Darwinian Evolution ) you'll find not many people will back that kind of nonsense up, not even the Church.

Well quite: I'm no creationist myself, but I find myself disturbed at any attempt to prevent anyone else holding another view if he or she wants to.

I'm getting to the far end of the other side of the spectrum. Too many ideas out there that need to be stamped out, if we're to survive.
