"It's actually very, very deeply not anti-Catholic,"

So said Shekhar Kapur about his fillum Elizabeth—the Golden Age.
Oh, well, that's all right, then. Say what you like about us.

Can't be anti-Catholic, part of it was filmed in Westminster Cathedral, apparently with the Cardinal's okay.

Does that make a difference? Wasn't there are recital of the gazillion names of Allah there recently?

"It's actually very, very deeply not anti Catholic."

"It's anti extreme forms of religion."

Well, it could be argued extreme xenophobia replaced religion in Elizabethan England.

Is this film therefore anti xenophobic ?

I saw one of those funny publicity programmes on Film24, which featured interviews with the stars, clips, etc. He was interviewed during this programme and he likened C16 Catholicism to Al Quaeda! As our American chums say, "Go figure!".
